INFTA’s training adheres to the International Core Curriculum for Forest Therapy (ICCFT) validated by experts from over 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Australia in 2017. The recommended overall duration of the INFTA FTG training is six months and comprises of:
The training – conducted by the Institute of Forest Therapy Pty Ltd, the INFTA-Accredited Training Provider for Asia, – is open to national and international applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 12 exclusive training places available. The language of instruction is English. Thus, interested participants from Japan, who have good English language skills, are encouraged to apply.

These requirements are necessary due to the nature and responsibilities of Forest Therapy Guides who have to be capable of leading diverse groups of people outdoors at different biospheres and locations. Also, a current First Aid certificate (which may be acquired separately from other training providers prior to the final exam) and adequate insurance coverage are compulsory for each FTG trainee.
Accommodation for the training workshop is provided at a special rate at the “Mikawaya” Hotel in Kiso – the closest town to the Akasawa Forest Therapy Center. A shuttle bus/taxi will pick up all participants from the “Mikawaya” Hotel after breakfast and take them via Agematsu to the Akasawa Forest Therapy Center (see map above); the shuttle bus/taxi drops everyone back at the “Mikawaya” Hotel in time for dinner.
Our workshop facilities are located right at the Akasawa Forest Therapy Center. The Forest Therapy sessions you will experience are conducted on lovely, forested trails at Akasawa.
Please organize your own transport (air and local travel) to Kiso/Japan. You can reach Kiso quite easily by train, either from Osaka (Kansai International Airport, about 4 hrs) or Tokyo (Narita Airport or Haneda Airport, about 4-6 hrs). Our shuttle bus/taxi will pick you up from Kiso-Fukushima Station, about two kilometres away from the “Mikawaya” Hotel. Should you have any further question, please contact us.
If you wish to become an INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide or just wish to participate in this exclusive and unique five-day, face-to-face workshop, simply complete and submit the Application Form. Again, please note there are only 12 training spots available for this training cohort. These are reserved in the order of applications received and accepted. If you have already embarked on or completed an INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide training and you just wish to participate in the five-day, face-to-face workshop – the INFTA Forest Therapy Introduction – concessionary tuition fees will be charged. Due to the training location in Japan, all tuition fees will have to be paid in Japanese Yen (¥). This can be done easily online via Stripe® using any standard credit or debit card.
The tuition fees for the full-fledged, six-months training course (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG52125; October 2025 to March 2026) amount to ¥ 592,000.- (incl. GST). A down-payment of ¥ 160,000.- (incl. GST) will have to be made upfront via Stripe® once your application has been accepted in order to reserve your exclusive training slot. You will be invoiced separately to make the final payment of ¥ 432,000.- (incl. GST) via Stripe® before 15 August 2025.
