Extend your professional scope and become a Forest Therapy Guide (FTG) certified by and accredited with the International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance (INFTA) (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG56122). INFTA-Certified FTGs perform a vital role in preventive and therapeutic Public health. The training is suited for medical practitioners, psychotherapists or environmental experts who are active in clinics, spas, specialized resorts, hotels and wellness centers, Government departments, organisations, companies or running their own practice. INFTA’s training adheres strictly to the International Core Curriculum for Forest Therapy (ICCFT) validated by experts from over 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Australia in 2017. The overall duration of the INFTA FTG training is six months and comprises of:

  • compact introductory workshop (40 hrs over five days)
  • supervised theoretical and practical training (248 hrs over five months)
  • theoretical and practical examination (8 hrs over several days)

The five-day workshop will be conducted at the scenically located Forsthaus Friedrichsruh, nestled some 40 kms away from the hustle and bustle of Hamburg in North Germany. The training location is right at the Sachsenwald, an ideal forest for FTG training. The Sachsenwald offers the finest of Forest Therapy trails in North Germany, perfectly suited for an intense, effective and successful Forest Therapy workshop.

The next INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG56122) is scheduled to resume immediately after the INFTA Forest Therapy Introduction (14-18 March 2022). It is open to national and international applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 12 exclusive training places available. The languages of instruction are German and English.

The requirements to participate in the training are:

  • a tertiary degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and/or at least three years of relevant professional work experience
  • proficiency in reading, speaking and writing English and/or German as well as adequate IT skills
  • skills and experience in teaching, advising or dealing with people
  • physically, mentally and emotionally fit
  • interest in health, nature and environmental issues
  • capable of being outdoors for several hours per day
  • professional behaviour and ethical conduct
  • ability to self-manage studies, attention to detail completing assignments on time

These requirements are necessary due to the nature and responsibilities of Forest Therapy Guides who have to be capable of leading diverse groups of people outdoors at different biospheres and locations. Also, a current First Aid certificate and an adequate Public Liability insurance is compulsory for each FTG trainee. These need to be acquired separately as part of the practicum.

The total costs for the six-months INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training amount to only EUR 5,000, payable in two installments. A down-payment of EUR 2,500 is to be made immediately after the application is accepted by INFTA, while the remaining EUR 2,500 are due prior to resuming the supervised and mentored practicum with access to the state-of-art INFTA Learning Management System (INFTA LMS). Before submitting your application, please read our disclaimer and privacy policies. In case of cancelling your reserved training spot, INFTA will have to charge a cancellation fee of EUR 500.-.

The costs include all lessons of instructions (compact introductory workshop, online training/INFTA LMS, mentoring sessions via Zoom®), comprehensive INFTA Forest Therapy Guide training material, access to INFTA’s Google Drive (which contains over 200 research articles, brochures and books), the theoretical and final exam and, upon successful completion of the course, the INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training Certificate. The costs also cover full-board and single-room accommodation during the workshop at the Forsthaus Friedrichsruh as well as FREE accreditation with INFTA for a period of six months immediately after graduating as an INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide!

The INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training utilizes the latest international research and focuses on the evidence-based aspects of this Public health practice. The INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training is delivered by experienced and INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guides, dedicated mentors and lecturers (all having tertiary degrees and specialized in their subject area). The INFTA Forest Therapy Guide training is quality-controlled and monitored by Dr Dieter Kotte, Secretary of the INFTA, who – among other qualifications – holds a PhD in International Comparative Education from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Dr. Hannelore Zapp-Kroll, Board Member of INFTA Germany and retired specialist doctor in Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, will be in charge of all practical training modules.

To become an INFTA-Certified and Accredited Forest Therapy Guide, just complete and submit the Application Form. Again, please note there are only 12 training spots available. These are reserved in the order of applications received.

  • FREE accreditation with INFTA for a period of six months (after successful completion of the practicum)

The costs for the six-months training course (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG56122, March 2022 to September 2022) amount to EUR 5,000.- (all inclusive). These will have to be paid in two installments:

  • down-payment of EUR 2,500 after acceptance of registration by INFTA to secure your exclusive training slot
  • final payment of EUR 2,500 to be made prior to 1 March 2022
