Extend your professional scope and become a Forest Therapy Guide (FTG) certified by and accredited with the International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance (INFTA) (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG54121). INFTA-Certified FTGs perform a vital role in preventative health or therapeutic medicine. The training is suited for medical practitioners, psychotherapists, health or environmental specialists who are active in hospitals, spas, resorts, hotels and wellness centers, in Government departments, organisations, companies or in their own practice. INFTA’s training adheres to the International Core Curriculum for Forest Therapy (ICCFT) validated by experts from over 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Australia in 2017. The minimum duration of the INFTA FTG training is six months and comprises the following training segments:
This INFTA FTG training has been designed specifically taking into consideration COVID-19 restrictions which make travelling to attend a training workshop at present rather difficult. As a more flexible alternative, your training begins with a compact three-day introductory workshop scheduled 28-30 January 2022 (between 10-14.00 hrs AEST; of course, with respective breaks in between). This Forest Therapy introduction is conducted online via video-conferencing using Zoom®. This start provides you with an intense theoretical framework which helps you to resume your practicum right away at a location of your choice – no risky interstate or international travel needed!
Your six-months practicum is mentored and supervised by experienced trainers each of which are equipped with tertiary qualifications and a high degree of expertise and professional attitude. Our mentors will guide you successfully through your practicum which you can conduct at your own pace, either within six or even up to twelve months.
To enhance your practical and theoretical skills in becoming an INFTA-Certified and Accredited Forest Therapy Guide, you also have to take part at a five-day practical training workshop. These are offered regularly in 2022 and 2023. Three different locations are available:
So, choose your practical training workshop from any of these dates/locations already scheduled by INFTA:
This INFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training is open to national and international applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 12 exclusive training places available. The language of instruction is English.
The requirements to participate in the training are:
These requirements are necessary due to the nature and responsibilities of Forest Therapy Guides who have to be capable of leading diverse groups of people outdoors at different biospheres and locations. Next to proper insurance, such as Public Liability/Professional Indemnity, a current First Aid certificate and Certificate of Participation in Safe Food Handling Practices is compulsory for each FTG trainee (which may be acquired separately from other training providers prior to the final exam).
Our training utilizes the latest international research as compiled by INFTA in the International Handbook of Forest Therapy (Kotte, Li, Shin & Michalsen [eds] 2019) and focuses on the evidence-based aspects of Forest Therapy as a Public Health practice. Hence, INFTA’s training aims at qualifying participants to be employed at the professional and academic level. As an INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide you become part of an international community of FTGs and experts who form the national and international networks of the world’s peak body in this area, the INFTA.
To become an INFTA-Certified Forest Therapy Guide, just complete and submit the Application Form. Again, please note there are only 12 training spots available for this training cohort. These are reserved in the order of applications received.
INFTA is looking forward to welcoming you to its next Forest Therapy Guide Training.
