The aims of INFTA are:

  • to raise awareness about nature and forest therapy based on the Japanese public health concept of Shinrin-yoku (森林浴)
  • to promote nature and forest therapy in Australia, Asia and internationally
  • to define, introduce, certify, monitor and amend (where required) curricula, educational material, assessments and standards with regards to nature and forest therapy training
  • to liaise as the Australasian peak body, professional organization and representative of nature and forest therapy with other international bodies, organizations, government departments, corporate entities or other stakeholders in the area of nature and forest therapy to promote, develop and maintain global educational, training, monitoring, research, publication and otherwise relevant standards
  • to support members of the association in their endeavours as nature and forest therapists
  • to represent members of the association as the peak body of nature and forest therapy in Australia, Asia and internationally
